Complete and Reopen Milestones

Complete a Milestone

Completing a milestone signifies the end of its planned testing activities. This action locks further updates to associated test runs, ensuring a stable record of the milestone’s final status.

How to Complete a Milestone

  1. Navigate to the Milestones Timeline dashboard.

  2. Locate the milestone that has reached its completion.

  3. Click the Complete button on the right side.

  4. The milestone status updates to Completed, it will no longer appear in the Timeline View but can still be found under Completed Milestones.

Completing a Parent Milestone will automatically complete all its linked Sub-Milestones. Before proceeding, ensure that all Sub-Milestones are in a ready for completion state to maintain data integrity and accurate progress tracking.

Once completed, the milestone and its sub-milestones remain available for reporting. A Completed Milestone cannot have new sub-milestones added or be linked to additional test runs, but it can be Reopened if further modifications are needed.

Reopen a Milestone

Reopening a milestone allows you to resume or restart activities within a previously stopped or completed milestone. This action is useful when you need to continue working on a milestone that was paused or finalized.

How to Reopen a Milestone

  1. Click the Completed Milestones button at the bottom of the left sidebar to open the Completed Milestones List.

  1. Select the milestone that you wish to reopen.

  1. Click the Reopen button located in the top-right corner.

  2. The milestone status will change to its actual status (STARTED or PAST DUE) based on its due date, and it will reappear in the Timeline View for tracking.

Reopening a Parent Milestone does not automatically reopen any associated sub-milestones. The sub-milestones will remain in their previous state until reopened individually.

A sub-milestone can only be reopened if its Parent Milestone is not in the Completed status. If the parent is completed, reopening the sub-milestone is not allowed.

Reopening a milestone allows teams to resume progress, ensuring that milestones are not left incomplete and can continue moving forward when necessary.
